Having an occasional vacation is good!

(01-08)

Except, I never go anywhere anymore.  With local bike riding, trips to Pebble Beach, and Social Dancing who needs it?

Everything’s in the Bay Area and it’s a great place to live.

(12-03)

Road trip to great grandfather’s Texas farm site.  My photos are buried on a CD image disk hopefully.  Someday I’ll place them here.  Quick update, found the CD and so can finally place the photos when time allows.

My trip to Kauai in October of '99.

Hiking on the Nal Pali Coast (at end of the highway and up a cliff side)

More cliff views from my journey up the Nal Pali Coast

Looking well fed on the trail (Nal Pali Coast) to the beach

End of 2-mile coast trek at the beach

I explore the west side of the island and have to see the most remote beach accessible by car.

Kauai has a beautiful protected fish preserve that is open to the public and attended by lifeguards.
I had a really good time here and after purchasing fish food at Long's Drugs for $2.25 was swarmed by large fish.
They are particularly aggressive and numerous with great variety and splashy colors.  If time would have permitted
then for sure I'd gotten a disposable underwater camera (even if the colors come out lousy) for a blizzard of fish.
The most interesting thing I did on the island was to feed the fish here while snorkeling.

Up the coast on the East Side to the end of the highway and have a pit stop.

Helicopter I took  a ride in

Picture from the 45-minute helicopter ride that was sort of fun

Went to Honolulu years back and had a blast, unfortunately no photos.  I think the airfare was only $330,
it's been awhile.

Someone convinces me I want to take a Club Med vacation.  They recommend Martinique Island just north of Venezuela.

Lured by tales of scuba spear gun fishing and fantastic night life I go.

The destination airport is not that great

The plane ride in was a normal airplane but the approach was pretty bad with lots of wind and jagged looking rock,

debris, and garbage piles before the runway.  The line for customs was very long and slow.  Another wait for the buses

in a very picturesque terminal pick-up area complete with coconut trees etc.

Three hours in a bus to the opposite side of the island.

A Luncheon area where we waited to locate the accommodations

The spacious accommodations I was looking forward to after the plane ride

The dining was okay, as were the nightclubs

The beaches were spacious, and there was plenty of skiff sailing

Club Med staff would put on Stage Productions each night

Waterfront area with scenic views
